Alone we can do so little.
Together we can do so much.
Helen Keller
Finalist, IBM Call for Code Spot Challenge: Mental Health in a Time of Crisis
My team included 4 other Industrial Engineering and Operations Research PhD students from NC State. During this short 2-week spot challenge, we integrated machine learning and optimization to develop a data-driven dashboard recommending equitable allocation of mental health resources considering underlying access/infrastructure to mental health resources poor mental health risk.

My team of officers and I focused on inclusion, engagement, and positive community-building as we hosted events like an end-of-year celebration "Thought and Did", Wolfpack football game tailgates, and a weekly ISE Intermission coffee break.

Editorial Board Member 2019 - 2021

Jenny Breese
Jenny was my first official mentee through a Research Experience for Undergraduates. During our travels to Lumberton, NC, and many research meetings, she became an indispensable researcher I relied on for statistical analysis and creative simulation solutions. Jenny's tireless go-with-the-flow attitude and emphasis on delivering timely results has followed her to a full-time job at Johns Hopkins APL.

Chloe Shevlin
This creative, high-aiming, intensely smart source of energy and positivity was my first long-term project collaborator as we worked to improve operations at Duke Health. Chloe is now making waves abroad as a Fulbright Scholar.
